3D Characters For Cinematics | Ad Osterberg
I am showcasing the 3D character modelling workflow for cinematics. Concept art and Art direction for the film is by Pim Bos

I had the pleasure of working on the Tremen Short Film by Pim Bos. I created many 3D characters for this project, but for now, I will showcase two of them - Buddy Bot and Rumpert. I am only showcasing the work I did for this project and the teaser.
Below you can see the Teaser for the short film.
The short film is supposed to imitate stop-motion movies with miniature characters, which is what I was trying to achieve through the character creation process.

Creating characters for films is quite different from games. I had to get out of the mindset that all angles of the character should be polished and focus on only working on things that are visible through the shot camera.

The characters use UDIMs as it is easier to adjust texture sizes as needed for each shot manually.
I tried my best to rely less on metalness as these figures are supposed to be made and painted by hand.
Thank you for your attention!
