Ghostbusters Plasma Series Splenger's Proton Pack

This is my hard surface modeling project. Modeled in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag.

Round of applause for our sponsors

Hi, this is the Proton Pack I chose to do for my hard surface modeling class in The One Academy. I was attracted by its interesting and complicated shapes. So I decided to challenge myself to do this for my project.

Blocking Stage

To optimize my understanding of the Proton Pack,  I gather the references as much as possible. I block out the simple shapes in the first week and I keep refining and focusing on the details in the next few weeks. I spent a lot of time doing the small wires and fixing the topologies after I used booleans.

UV Stage

After finishing the blocking, I proceed to UV unwrapping. I separate the model into a few UV maps because some parts are too big and I want to make sure the texture is high quality.

Texture Stage

I use Substance Painter to do the textures. At first, I follow the reference for the worn parts. However, under the guidance of my lecturer, Ray, I added dynamic color variations to the worn sections so it will look more appealing.

Rendering Stage

Last but not least, I used the Marmoset Toolbag to render. This is my first time using Marmoset.

Thank you!
