Update - 19 Dec 2021

I started this update by not having the spider pose after he stops walking, as this was slightly confusing the story, so instead I had his arms by his side, whilst he throws his sunglasses. This meant that the action was the main focus

The next step was adding some up and down movement as the spider got into each pose, as they were looking very stiff. It was unrealistic for someone to be able to stand that still for so long, so I added some slight movements when the poses were being held. Next I will be adding some more animation to the hands.

Update - 15 Dec 2021

After looking at what props were available in the Adobe Substance 3D free assets, I found a backdrop, and came up with the idea to have the Knight Spider in a photoshoot. I also found some sunglasses which I thought would add to the personality of the character I wanted to create. After blocking the animation out I realised that I would have to cut out the final walk off as I would not have enough time with the 10 second limit. As I needed to make sure there was enough frames to hold each pose.

I started with walk cycle and spent quite a lot of time on it. There was quite a lot of sliding which I had to fix. The part I struggled with the most was figuring what all the arms were going to do, as I wanted to create the impression that the spider had a lot of attitude. I think adding the sunglasses helped to achieve this.

The next part was blocking out the two poses. I used reference from models in photoshoots, as some of my poses need to be pushed further. I still think the last pose needs some work, maybe one of the legs could be lifted to add something to it. But I am happy with the first pose. Next I will work on the transitions between poses.
