Lighting that worked on the game ShrineFlow. The lighting team worked hard on Cinematics, and I am the lighting lead of the game. I am proud of our game team. There are some lighting issues on various things, but it has been a great learning experience for me to solve the problems.

Lighting in Shrine Flow with Unreal Engine 5
I worked on the lighting in-game environment, menu environment, choosing characters menu, cinematic on Kitsune Wins, ninja wins, and intro cinematic as a lead lighter.

The Challenge I had...

It was hard to get the feeling of the game because the art director had a specific image in his mind, and it was misty, but mainly dawn lighting with a different world feeling. I referenced some pictures from other games, such as "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice."

The other challenge in the game was that the outside and inside lighting needed to be different, so I used the post-process volume in every game building to adjust the exposure and make the lighting believable both outside and inside. I will put the environment fly-through video next to see the lighting change in the environment.

One more thing that was brought up while we tested the game was the shadow because whenever a character goes into the shadow, it gets dark, and we cannot see the character. I put the lighting separately to the character blueprint and used the lighting channel to separate their character lighting effects from the environment.

Moreover, I worked on the cinematic lighting for the Kitsune Win, Ninja Win, and intro Cinematics for the shrine flow, so I will Add on for that.

In Cinematics, we had many problems, but one thing we were trying to get right was matching the render colorspace to what we see in the render view on the viewport. We also wanted to compose the layers separately in Nuke, so we used layered render for the cinematic.

I worked on the Menu character Lighting and Menu environment separately from the in-game lighting too.

Here is the Breakdown for the in-game lighting.

If you are interested in the game, please go to Steam, and we have the game up on the platform to see what game it is.

Thank you for watching my lighting journey in the game "Shrine Flow." It was fun to work with many people who worked on finishing the game and cinematics.
