It's Only Just a Start for My Art Journey

Greeting to everyone who is seeing my sharing about the starting of my art journey, thank you. Hope you guys find something fun and enjoy!

The first artwork I would like to share is a creature modeling referring from one of my favourite concept artists, Nelnalium. I have attached a concept art from Nelnalium which also my core reference for this project.

Creature Modeling_Amilcare

This is my final beauty render for Amilcare. As you can see, from my posing till my scene setup, Amilcare is an optimistic and playful guy. 

Look! What a strange reflection that showing up from the mirror?! So creepy, better run now.

I'm using the ID map to make the creepy effect that the mirror not showing the right reflection of Amilcare posed with composition technique. To make this effect, I rendered two Amilcare with different posing. Above is the result of two renders. Below is the process of how ID map help me to achieve the result I want.

The next artwork I would like to share is a hero prop from my favourite movie, Avatar. The art of Avatar is my inspiration to learn 3D modeling. They are amazing! Therefore, when I know that I had an opportunity to do a hero prop. Avatar be my first choice. After some filter and selection, I decided to choose it.

I really like this hero prop because of its unique bow design and variation of color changes on the bow's blade. I wanted to create these beautiful materials and textures with the knowledge I have learned. The next image is the orthographic view of the bow.

Following next is the outcome of the bow in different maps, following by color map, roughness map, metallic map and normal map.

These are the closeups of the commercial bow. I created two different variations of color changes for the upper blade and lower blade. I was using the layering method in Substance Painter, layered different colors and patterns slowly to make this outcome of color changes on the blades as well as on the wood or else it will look dull. It was a challenging process for me that time but I enjoy and appreciate it as I got a lot of help and encouragement from my lecturer and fellow friends.

The last of my sharing is my light and compositing project. In this project, I had learned a lot of tips and technical stuff in compositing, lighting as well as rendering. The scene I created is based on the concept of Alice in the Wonderland. The scene setting is locating in a hall of the palace. Queen of Heart as usual in the movie, being the big boss in this scene, standing in the middle of the hall, guarding the only door that allow the dreamer escape to reality when these unfortunate guys enter the land they dream, the Wonderland which ruled by the Queen of Heart.

This time, the one who enter the dream is...The Black Poker Soldier!!! But why?

The YouTube video show three moods that I composite in DaVinci Resolve. Day light, night and horror. It was an unforgettable project for me because I took a lot of time in compositing theses three mood. The horror mood is my favourite. For horror mood, I was using the red lighting to match the whole environment that filled with red. I added a VFX, the smoke to make the ambience feel more horror. Lastly, I set key in DaVinci to form the result of turning on the light from dark and once the light turned on, my focus point is on the Queen of Heart.  From this project, I realize that I'm not sensitive enough to the lighting and that's what make me frustrated during the period of doing this project, but I'm not giving it up. Just what I mentioned for my entry titled, it's just a start.

He planted the wrong roses, he planted the white roses, and he painted them into red. Go and watch the movie!

He enters this dream because he feels guilty and he scared that the Queen of Heart finds out the truth.

A conclusion! Don't do things that will make you feel guilty haha and hope you guys enjoy my sharing. My artworks are not perfect but I love them so much because they recorded how I go stronger and reminded me how I start my passion in art.
