Round of applause for our sponsors

Welcome to my entry in this years "The Rookie Awards 2024"! I am Nadine, 23 years old, graduate in 3D Design at Think Tank Training Centre. The following 19th-Century-Street is the result of my mentorship project at Think Tank. See also Artstation (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/LR6rl0) for my work.

A Street In 19th Century France

The concept is originally an illustration by Tan Yang Jim (https://www.artstation.com/dtyj). The scene shows an alley from a French town in the 19th century. Restaurants with chairs and tables outside, a small fruit vendor's stand stands at the edge of the cobblestones. Autumn winds blow leaves through the street, a puddle still bears witness to the last downpour. Flags in the colors of France fly above everything. I am fascinated by this era and the style of French architecture!

Breakdown

It is a game ready environment made with Unreal Engine 5. For the wall textures of the upper stories of the buildings I used second UV sets and decals instead of Vertex Painting.

I involved Quixel Megascan for the apples, respective the atlases of Quixel for the foliage.

Huge thanks to my mentor Jason Gullion and everyone else who helped me out on this project!

Tileable Materials

The materials have been done in Substance Designer.

For the cobbelstone material I used Zbrush and Substance Designer. I used Zbrush for sculpting the big and medium details of the stones. I did the small surface noises in Substance Designer, because it’s easier to control and layering here. Colors and roughness were made in Substance Designer, too.
