Hello everyone, I'm Giacomo Perdomini. I have a degree in industrial product design and I am currently part of the research and development team at BigRock Institute of Magic Technologies.

I am pleased to present to you my first entry.

I completed this project during my Master in Computer Graphics at BigRock Institute of Magic Technologies. It was a great challenge as I had never used Marvelous Designer before.

From the beginning, my goal was clear: to create an outfit inspired by fashion styles such as cyberpunk and techwear. I thoroughly searched for references to better visualize what I had in mind, while also trying to more concretely outline the types of clothing items to create.

It was a lot of fun for me to use Marvelous Designer, allowing me to make the best use of my technical and artistic skills. I started by studying the gathered references with the goal of creating the most accurate replica possible. Then, I followed the usual Marvelous Designer workflow by creating the pattern. I used a trial-and-error approach and tried to optimize the simulation by setting the values that worked best for my garments.

The most challenging part was finding the correct pressure value to "inflate" the garments, both of which were made with double layers.

After that, I created the various materials within Marvelous Designer, primarily using diffuse, roughness, and normal maps. I created the outfit in two color variations.

After creating the outfit in A-pose, it was time to test how the garments behaved with an animated avatar within Marvelous Designer.

I used an Alembic file provided by our instructors and subsequently created custom poses to further test the garments I made.

After that, I exported it into Maya, where I created a simple scene. I mainly focused on the lighting, conducting several tests until I achieved the desired result.

Finally, I used Arnold for rendering and then composited everything with After Effects and Photoshop.
