My first year behind a computer

Moa Kihlström
by miube on 1 Jun 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

Just a student at Yrgo, diving into the exciting realm of Architecture Visualization. I'm all about blending my love for design with a touch of tech to craft some seriously cool visual experiences. This is my first year as an architectural visualization student but also my first year behind a computer. www.miube.com

No. 01 Abstraction

"Charles The First" by Basquiat is transformed into a three-dimensional living space, reimagining the essence of the painting as an apartment filled with vibrant hues and dynamic textures. Each brushstroke and element of Basquiat's original artwork is meticulously translated into architectural details, creating an immersive environment that blurs the lines between art and living.

At the bottom you can see my first attempt at reimagining "Charles The First". Which also is my very first 3D project.

Project length was two weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Chaos Corona Renderer with postproduction in Adobe Photoshop.

No. 02 PROPERTY MAKEOVER

A house in need of renovation gets a digital uplift in order to draw in prospective buyers on real estate marketplaces. In order to create appealing images I chose natural colors and a clean look not to make it too designer-esque.

Project length was two weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Chaos Corona Renderer with postproduction in Adobe Photoshop.

No. 03 THE VILLA

Using a floorplan and CAD drawings provided by Alingsås Huspaket. A house was modeled with a surrounding environment to look like a modern take on the typical red summer houses in Sweden, taking inspiration from my grandmothers lake house.

Project length was three weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds max with Chaos V-Ray using iToo Railclone to make the facade and roof and iToo Forest Pack to make the grass and trees. With postproduction in Adobe Photoshop.

No. 04 POSEIDON HOTEL

The Poseidon Hotel was created as a group project where each group member was responsible for a unique area. My area was the lobby/bar.

The assignment included that we model at least one object by ourselves. I modeled the reception desk and the bar area.

Project length was three weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Chaos Corona Renderer with postproduction in Adobe Photoshop.

No. 05 URBAN ARCHITECTURE

First time I worked with a client project but as a school assignment. Using a partially complete model of King's Cross I finished the model and added lighting, materials, and vegetation.

By suggesting camera angles I discussed with the "client" about which direction to take the project in.

Project length was three weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Chaos Corona Renderer using iToo Forest Pack to make the vegetation. With postproduction in Adobe Photoshop.

No. 06 ANIMATION

Here I wanted to challenge myself and after being obsessed with horror story videos for a while I thought about using cloth in my animation to make ghosts move around. So the idea of an abandoned haunted school came to fruition.

Project length was two weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Chaos Corona Renderer using MassFX to simulate the cloths. Later rendered into a video using Adobe Premiere Pro.

No. 07 BLACK GARLIC

An exciting endeavor to transform a 41-square-meter apartment into a captivating sanctuary that seamlessly blends dark, moody aesthetics with the warmth of home. Inspired by our client's vision for a space that exudes both sophistication and comfort, our design concept revolves around the careful combination of rich, deep tones and abundant natural light. The kitchen was modeled from scratch not including props, appliances, and the faucet.

This is my first actual client project.

Project length was three weeks.

Rendered in Autodesk 3ds Max with Chaos Corona Renderer with postproduction in Adobe Photoshop.

If you reached this far, thank you for your time. It's really appreciated 😊
