Rommnic Rysk A. Gatchalian
by NicksRysk on 1 Jun 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

Hello I'm Rommnic Rysk A. Gatchalian! This is my 2nd Rookies entry. This was a very refreshing project to have. I'm always fascinated by doing architectual visualizatioin. I'm currently working on a fictional story. This opportunity will b e a good moment to make concepts for it's visual aesthetics.

Archi Vis Process:

- I started with sketching some orthographic frontal view of buildings. The concept design is an old appartment you see in apartment blocks in Brooklyn, US / Manhattan, US.

- Having a front orthographic view, it will be simple to plot out your floor plan that fits the size of the scale of the sketch.

- Its beneficial for me to align my references to the sketch and right down my ideas.

- Since I have my floor plan already, its simple to just inset the area of the plane then you can now extrude the margin upward to the Z axis to make walls. For columns select the faces of specific sides of the mesh then extrude towards X / Y axis.

- I also made modular pcs for the windows, window bar fence, fireexit ladders and for the entrance.

- The texture materials I used for these meshes are from "Poliigon"

- Since doing 1 floor, I can just copy it 5 times to make a 6 story building apartment. For the ground floor, I made a cube mesh and used it to boolean out the circular corner of the building, then I can now place the entrance diagonally(45 deg Z  rotation).

* Up next are 3D 3/4 view shots of the scene. Its viewed on "object view" so that Blender will not crash as I havent unsubdivided the meshes at this moment.

- These are the 3D screenshots rendered in "Eevee" as Blender crashes on "Cycles" on my machine.

- The other 3D assets seens in these scene are from "KitBash3D" the people are from a Blender add on "Procedural Crowds"

- To consider I've added the top floor view of the mesh and the partition of the whole floor plan for the Interiors.

- This is the whole area of Rem's Aprtment flat. I finished this as the last. I did all 4 area individually 1st for mahine resource problems and easy of steps aswell to keep track of the interior environmental story telling.

- By having a floor plan It will be much simpler to determine the partition. I was able to make the whole partition of each flats in the building aswell as the partitions of rooms in each flat.

- By having these meshes, its easy to make a greybox to make sketches on to for the interiors.

- There are much more interesting choices of shapes, But for the story purpose I'll have to stick with the corner apartment flat from the building's right.

- The bedroom was the 1st I did. This took long as I tried to skip re breifing myself about the things that need to be in the bedroom.

- The process here became a pain as I needed to go back and forth from my reference. Lots of indecision cuz of lack of ideation made me waste time here.

- Through the process, I figured out that it is important to change the view of the shot to show whats gonna be on Rem's room's desk.

- This cinematic shot is to show another angle of the room.

- Texture materials are from "Poliigon"

- This time I learned my lesson. I went back to the reference board and try to remember my notes in my notebook and rewrite it along with the reference images in "Photoshop".

- It will be a smooth sale from grey boxing sketch and determine what assets are on to what for an easier paintover.

- Texture materials are from "Poliigon"

- The steps and process here will be repeated as the one from living room above.

* Below are the modular pcs I made its easy to just copy and paste them in to the scene.

Many thanks! I'm grateful to be part of this activity. Many thanks in advanced for judges who will take the time and check my entry!

Specially, many thanks to the CG Spectrum community and TAs! The consistency of the open sessions and digi sessions are a big help! Recorded videos are way way fire for me! Many informative resource in CG Spectrum Treasure vault!
