Hi! Today I present to you my most recent environment project. It was a solo project done for my school New3dge as a semester project. I chose to recreate the stable (Grande écurie de Versailles) from John Wick: Chapter 4. I loved this movie so much when I watched it, so I wanted to recreate a shot from that movie in order to practice color grading, and sculpting/drawing my own displacement maps.I mostly used 3ds Max for the modeling, and V-Ray for the texturing and rendering. A bit of Zbrush was used for the ornaments.

It was such a fun project to work on, I did it in my free time on the side of my other school work. Hope you like it!

When it came to the shaders, I had fun experimenting with all the nodes available to use in V-Ray, so the tiled wall I created was fully precedural. I used an UVWRandomizer and experimented with making the wall more moldy on some areas depending on its position in the scene. In order to not break the modeling instances, I made variations according to the Object ID, which I found very useful.

For the wood, I made RGB masks in Substance Painter then used those to emulate the dust on the crevices.
