Halo Prototype
This is a suit from the Halo Universe. Specifically from the episode "Prototype" from the 2010 animated movie "Halo Legends". I wanted to try and recreate it also as an exercise in hard surface modelling. But mostly because It's my favourite episode of the movie and I wanted to try and give it some justice
In the process of making this project I also had to sketch some components in order to have a better understanding of their shape and how to organize the cuts for the topology.
I modeled the objects in blender, starting from simple shapes such as cubes or cylinders with 6/8 faces and then proceeded to create the various components through extrusions, Insets, bevels and loopcuts. Then I applied the bevel and subdivision modifiers to soften the edges of the various meshes. For some I also used the array modifier duplicate the mesh and the mirror modifier for parts that were suppoused to be symmetrical (wether to themselves or to the full mesh).
I then created the textures in Substance, using a simple metallic material and then adding over it a layer of rust for the edges and some scratches on the entire mesh.
And finally i created a simplified rig in blender, where i implemented an IK system and a custom property to control the propellers' angle.
