Memory Lane

Memory Lane is a student film created by Seogene Lee, Karizma Francis, and Doris Huang. The film is currently private to Kickstarter fund donors and judges as it competes for various film festivals including the Student Academy Awards, BAFTA, Cannes Film Festival, and many more!

Inspiration

This story was inspired by my grandmother who suffered from a traumatic brain injury that left her with chronic dementia. It is a dedication piece to her for being my primary childhood caregiver in place of my working parents.

Film Fundraiser

Memory Lane started a Kickstarter campaign to fund the film expenses at the beginning of 2024. Within two months, we raised over 2k, exceeding our goal.

The fund was used in various parts to better the quality of the overall film, from recruiting reference actors to creating music/sound design. Having professional actresses join the shoot for animation reference allowed us to elevate the look of the animation in the film.

Characters

Below are the Character Designs with Turntables of the 3D Models.

Grandma has a characteristic of irritable, confused, distrustful, fearful, or anxious, normally seen from dementia patients.

Katy is a granddaughter who is considerate, attentive, patient, and concerned.

Little Katy is playful, energetic, and positive.

Environments

Grandma walks down memory lane in four different settings. Below are the breakdowns of selected environments in the order of final, ambient occlusion, wireframe, and back to final.
