For my first project ever, I made this little Inn. It's little, cozy, and perfect to spend the night in!

Project Enviroment:

For this project, we had to replicate a building of our choice from an array of pictures, so I choose something to my likings! A little, colorful Inn.

Modelling & Blockout: AutoDesk Maya

To start off this project, I started by making a rough blockout in Maya, adding more and more details with each version. Starting by the basic form of the house, I took inspiration from the look of the houses in Witch It , a videogame I really like.

After settling on a final version, I moved on to the house UV's. This was my first time ever manually unwrapping and displacing UVs, which can be easily intuited by how many UDIM's I used.

Texturing: Substance Painter

With the UVs done, it was finally time to paint the Inn! This also was my first time using this program, and even if I had great difficulties at first, I quickly realized that this was one of my favourite part of the project!

Also, this is the phase where I realized that my starting reference, made with MidJourney, had quite a few garbled imprecisions and blurred parts, so I took some creative liberties to improve what I could:

Final render and details: Unreal Engine

After finishing to paint the house, I finally reached Unreal where I was planning to add some final details, such as the grass or the tree, before finally rendering my scene. It was here that I realized that my house was entirely shrouded in darkness, so I went back to Maya to model and add a couple of lanterns, giving the house a bit of light.

It was also during the first tests in Unreal that I decided to try and figure out special effects, such as flames or smoke... which definitely took a while to get right.

But ultimately, I managed to add effects, details, and finally decided to test for a final render, so here are the results! I tried with 2 different light settings ( Afternoon and Night ) to better show the lamps's light.

3D Turnarounds

Finally, to finish off with the turnaround of the Inn, both night and day!

Rendered and saved in Unreal Engine, and edited in After Effects.
