What if we made a game, about making a game...

CAE is a two player co-op "vertical slice" game, following the struggles and challenges the game developers face while making a game of their dreams.

CAE is our take on showcasing our experience of making a game for the first time, inside a game. We tried to translate it as simplified and gamified as possible, making sure the players feel the stress of running around and doing their tasks and the frustration of waiting on someone else to finish his so you can continue with development all while the project managers are punishing you for not working enough.

The initial idea was to make the game as meta as possible, we even considered making the level as our school!
This is why one of the most unique aspects from our game is asset and post-processing volumes changing and making the game look worse if you perform bad or vice-versa.

A e s t h e t i c s 

We have chosen to combine the vaporwave, cutesy, oldware feel to create something unique for our game that fits it quite nicely, our artists did a great job! Soundwise the same principles applied, making the player feel as if they are playing a more vintage game but at the same time not being too obstructive and keeping a consistent sonic palette that helps the gameplay by providing more than just decoration.
