Stylized PBR Models

A stylized Mario kart inspired Shrimp Kart in a semi handpainted PBR style.

I really wanted to mix a traditional hand painted feeling, which I had been using for all my work before this, with the PBR feel that substance painter can achieve. So I developed a simple technique (explained later on) in order to get a very stylized painterly texture.

I achieved the painterly part using a grunge as a base, to which I applied the oil paint filter. I also added some more layers to make the effect pop out more.

Stylized Robot using PBR technique.

This robot was made before I developed my handpainted technique, so this one leans a lot more in the realistic PBR direction. It's the first step I took into stylizing my models.

The designing process.

The process of designing this little fella took a lot of small adjustments and aha moments. Even when the design sketch was done, I still ended up making some pretty major adjustments, like changing the arms from a chute to those grabby things used to pick up trash.
