Theia and Borp - Character Design
This is a project as part of a character development class.
In class, we were tasked to develop and design characters for a mock children's show, Theia and Borp.
The show's concept and storyline was provided for us. It was then my task to create side characters and turn Theia from a name to a living, breathing (debatable) little girl.
These here, are outlines of each of the protagonists provided for us.
I developed the main cast from silhouettes to figuring out character's forms to colour tests...
...to callout sheets, Theia and Borp got to see their final forms.
And of course, these space adventurers are bound to get into all sorts of trouble... With space pirates!
Here is my process with the pirates developed prior to the protagonists.
And finally put together, we have our main cast of Theia and Borp!
Now, Theia and Borp can go explore their little asteroid and forage for the perfect Starflower!
Below is a personal illustration of the characters I spent weeks pouring my heart into designing.
2D Puppet Rig Animation
It was a very fun challenge to figure out rigging in 2D.
I made my layout and character on Adobe Animate.
Rough sketches to initially plan the layout, camera pan and character.
2D Lip Sync Animation
We were provided the characters and audio to work with.
Figuring out the layout and key poses for the character animation.
