All We Have Left | Oxygen Backpack

"The Backpack" is one of the props seen during the final sequence of our film. Both our characters, the "Dad" and his "Daughter" wears this device to help them breathe in the dystopian world devoid of oxygen. Check out our film here 👇 https://youtu.be/HZfiVqP0qRI?si=5LdA30oV-1h5grrW

All We Have Left | Oxygen Backpack

Dad Backpack

"The Backpack" is one of the props seen during the final sequence of our film. Both our characters, the "Dad" and his "Daughter" wears this device to help them breathe in the dystopian world devoid of oxygen.

The body is fashioned out of titanium and aluminum meanwhile, the padding is made of fabric and leather. There are safety lights on each side of the casing and mini pockets for storage. The mask is made clear paired with a rubber tube as to not obstruct the facial expressions of the characters in the film.

Character Render

These are the final renders of "The Dad" and "The Daughter (Lily)" along with their backpacks. Upon first inspection, it is noticeable that the father's backpack is worn out and dustier while the daughter's only slightly dusty and nearly clean. This visual choice reflects the difference between the father's knowledge of the outside world and the pristine innocence of his daughter.

Look Development

Here are some extra screenshots of the progress of "The Backpack", from exploring subtle design changes, prioritizing UV, to fixing topology for maximum optimization. It was indeed a fruitful learning experience for me and the team.

"The Backpack" has been through countless revisions. At first we were thinking of giving both backpacks a crisp and clean look to signify their first time venturing out into the wasteland. However after some thought, we decided that both backpacks should contrast the exposure of the father an his daughter.
