Hi, im Beau, a very fresh character concept artist with a specific interest in dark fantasy. My portfolio entries for 2024 are set in my own grimdark universe. Having started practicing concept art in pursuit of my place in the industry in mid 2023 by doing my first 3 month concept art course at cgspectrum, after being an abstract-ish (😅) traditional painter. i’m very excited to show the progress I've made doing digital art this past year by sharing my favorite pieces with you. Necrotactiloid and Coraline underlings

The Necrotactiloid is an ancient demigod that was once created to give new purpose to the victims of the sea, its original purpose was to care for the landscapes under the sea. But over many centuries the Necrotactiloid has grown mad and corrupted with power and furious with those above the sea for so often killing the creatures that populate his wavey skies and destroying the reefs that make up his home. 

With no one to oppose him at the bottom of the sea and the gods having forsaken their world long ago, he’s begun to mutate and mold his once loyal and beautiful followers into weapons of war solely driven by bloodlust. The followers of the Necrotactiloid call this process the gift and is often paired with cult- like rituals and is initiated by replacing the heart with a pearl that grows over time and functions as a catalyst for the gift.

Original idea and exploration

Y’Sha and Hellseed

Hellseeds are creatures from the underworld that managed to escape its grasp. These creatures lose everything but a few of their vital organs during this journey. Leaving them to become mutated pathetic creatures when arriving in our realm. 
These creatures then go out looking for a body to nestle in and begin their new life. 
How powerful their hosts body is determines how strong the hellseed can become. 
While chompers can easily decapitate their target, lookers on the other hand cannot. Because of this lookers are mostly found scavenging the remains of strong soldiers after wars or other conflicts.

Y’sha is an example of a Chomper that managed to find a strong host. Though the original owner of the body is unknown, y’sha is not, making a name for itself as an immaculate offensive tactician, being known to starve the people inside well protected strongholds, followed with an agressive and all out assault.

Mokh

Mokh, a giant ork warchief that wanders around the lands raiding villages, castles etc, gathering all available riches in an effort to pay the dwarves to make him a golden heart, a device that is said to be able to revive those who have passed beyond this world. 
All this to try and revive his childhood companion Oersh who was killed by a dragon attacking a young Mokh

Mokh, after seeing his beloved friend die snapped out of his initial fear and proceeded to kill the dragon and consume all but its bones,

these bones later became the weapon “eternal punishment” a way to punish the dragon for killing his friend even after death

the dragons blood and meat act like a steroid on the body which is why mokh is now so huge.

Dragons blood is commonly used in ork rituals to make their population bigger and stronger, but is only used in very small amounts at a time because of the excruciating pain one experiences when consuming it
