The theme of this Roadkill project is drawn from my personal experiences. Since my rented apartment is far from Savannah College of Art and Design, I drive on the highway daily to get to school. I often notice dead and mangled animals on the road, and I feel a deep sympathy for them. This inspired me to use my efforts to raise awareness about this issue. I closely observed the structure of the animal's bones and imagined them transforming into monsters to attract human attention. I incorporated these elements into my fashion designs, creating evening wear. I used draping techniques and experimented with CLO3D software to bring my ideas to life.

I conducted extensive research on Roadkill and discovered that a large number of small animals are killed on roads every year, causing significant harm to both the environment and the animals. I imagined these dead animals transforming into skeletal figures and then into monsters. Additionally, dead animals sometimes lie on the road until they dry out, which is also a form of waste. I incorporated the concept of zero-waste pattern cutting by folding square pieces of fabric into bone shapes and draping another square piece of fabric to resemble a spine.

I chose red to represent the concept of Roadkill and hand-dyed various shades of red to enhance this interpretation.

Because my target audience is young, higher-income women who have the ability to focus on and work towards improving this situation, I incorporated elegant silhouettes and details reminiscent of the 1950s.

After completing the design process, I used CLO3D software to recreate my designs. This approach simplified my pattern-making time and allowed me to explore more possibilities, helping me find the optimal solution. I also added makeup details and background scenes to my avatars, making them look more realistic.
