Simon Uguen - 2nd year in 3D Animation, ESMA
My name is Simon Uguen, and I am a second-year student at ESMA School of Nantes, France, specializing in 3D Animation. I aspire to be a director and 3D animator with the ultimate dream of working at Pixar Studios.
I wish to present my work to you and I hope it will pique your interest.
The Insect - 2024
One of the big project of second year in 3D Animation at ESMA school. This exercise is quite dense as we, the students, had to start from zero and build absolutely everything.
We had to do the modelisation, the rigg, animation, texturing, lighting, rendering and compositing in a couple of months so it was very instructive and rewarding at the end.
The Making of :
L'Antre du Héro, (The Hero's Lair) - 2023, Deckard's Appartment.
The Hero's lair is an ESMA Subject between the first and second year in 3D animation.
As a fan of scifi and the Blade Runner movies, I had to make Deckard's appartment for the 3D Subject, l'Antre du Héro (The Hero's Lair). I wanted to reproduce its atmosphere so I used photoshop to enhance the picture and give a kind of glow effect like in the movie.

The Breakfast - 2023
A 3D ESMA School project made with my tableware as reference.
The Breakfast project is one of the first renders done with Maya Renderman. I got familiar with subsurface and displacement maps. I learned how to create realistic maps using Photoshop.
The Desk - 2023
The Desk project was made in 2023 at ESMA school. It is one of my first rendered scene using Maya Renderman.
I reproduced a small wooden model of a motorcycle I have and a figurine of Akira on top. Bulding the face and hair from scratch was pretty challenging since I didn't really know how to do it.
Since it was the year the world known artist Kim Jung Gi died, I decided to make a little hommage by placing some of his artbooks on the shelf.
The Timelapse of a table - 2024
This is the evolution of a table in a classroom. This is a last 3D project of the second year at ESMA school.
