ABOUT ME

My name is Matilda, and I am currently a first-year archviz student. I have always enjoyed creating in different ways, but it has mostly been hands-on. Except for playing The Sims back in the day, I did not have any prior experience with digital creation before discovering the archviz course at Yrgo last year. Below are some of the projects I have been working on since.

Hope you enjoy!

URBAN ARCHITECTURE

This project was in collaboration with Millerhare, and the assigment was to create selling images of the residential area in Kings Cross, London, helping stakeholders and clients visualize the potential of the space. Millerhare provided base models, and our job was to develop and deliver a concept, materials, lighting, and camera angles that would resonate with the target audience.

The client, in this case Millerhare, required three images: two descriptive views of the location/building from the same vantage point, to ensure the images highlight the essence and integration of the building within its surroundings. They wanted two versions of each view to showcase the scene under different conditions, such as various seasons of the year or different times of the day, to highlight the space's versatility.

Secondly, they wanted one detailed view, concentrated on a specific aspect of the project, such as an innovative feature or a unique material used in the construction.

Timeline: Approximately three weeks | Software used: 3Ds Max, Corona, Photoshop

At our first correspondence session with Millerhare, we were to present three different camera angles for our descriptive views and detailed views for them to choose from. They gave me a lot of freedom here and ultimately had me decide which ones I wanted to expand on. I chose the second view as the descriptive view, and both the forth and fifth as my detailed view.

Next step in the process was to showcase three alternative concepts for our descriptive view. I wanted to show some variation so I decided to present three different weather conditions. They selected the first and the third one.

THE VILLA

This was our first project creating exterior images, and the assignment was twofold. Firstly we had to construct a 3D model of a villa using CAD data from @alingsåshuspaket. The second part of the assignment was to create a compelling environment for the villa to be set in somewhere in Scandinavia. We started off by creating moodboards, using them as a guide throughout the process. We were in charge of lighting, camera angles, and materials.

To break up the static and boxy features of the house, I decided to focus on an organic environment where the house would be integrated into nature. Inspired by the west coast where I grew up, my vision for the house was to have it situated on the top of a cliff, surrounded by a few pine trees, overlooking the sea and archipelago. I "extended" the house by building a terrace on different levels, allowing the house to blend into its surroundings instead of appearing as a misplaced big block.

For the materials I kept it simple and minimalistic. A lot of natural wood, reflecting the environment, and a mixture of both wild plants found on the west coast and other plants that thrive in the harsh environment.

THE HOTEL

This project was crafted to push us students to delve into various corners of the world and industries where conveying impactful concepts is crucial. A significant focus of this project was on cultivating teamwork skills. We were divided into groups, and each group was assigned with creating a hotel in a specific location or city along with visualizing a selection of different rooms. In my group, we were appointed to construct a hotel in Tunis, Tunisia, and my responsibility was to create the lobby.

THE PROPERTY MAKEOVER

For this assignment, the objective was to locate an authentic real estate advertisement featuring a house in desperate need of renovation. Lacking a floor plan to reference, I relied solely on the advertisement's photos and perspective matching to generate my own visual representations, illustrating the potential of the property. The goal was to furnish the residence and choose suitable materials, all while considering the existing architectural structure and the desired target demographic.

Situated within a residential neighborhood in the heart of the small town Fellingsbro, Sweden, my vision was to create a warm and welcoming environment that could appeal to both families and individuals alike. Opting for muted colors and dim lighting, my aim was to cultivate a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. The living room connects to the kitchen and serves as a social hub with various seating options.

MODELING

The aim for this project was to replicate an already existing chair, taking cues from photographs, sketches or similar references. The instructions were to construct and texture a chair that adheres to contemporary design, and render it in both a simple studio set up and a contextual "advertisement image" to provide a thorough depiction.

I was encouraged to build the Void dining chair by OKHA. The piece is minimalistic in its composition and form, whilst highlighting the unity of structure and space.

Capturing captivating shots of the chair proved challenging due to its linear appearence. Instead of taking the picture from a conventional camera angle, I decided to highlight the chair's natural geometry by positioning both the chair and camera straight on. This approach allowed me to showcase the chair's raw yet elegant design.
