Cars and Environment for Game

by DanielPintoAmorim on 31 May 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

Here are three of my projects designed for use in games or industrial design. These projects consist of two cars and an environment created in Unreal Engine. I had a lot of funny doing them and learned a lot.

Round of applause for our sponsors

Hello everyone, my name is Daniel Pinto Amorim.

For my first Rookies Awards in the Game Development category, I would like to present three of my projects. The first two projects are 3D modeled cars: a Koenigsegg One:1 and a Lamborghini Huracán (2016). The last one is a playable Japanese environment in Unreal Engine.

Here is my Koenigsegg One:1 project. I chose to model this car after completing my Lamborghini Huracán. I selected the One:1 because it is one of my favorite cars and it presented more complexity than the Huracán. The One:1 has a more rounded shape and more aerodynamic parts compared to the Huracán.

I also wanted to go further with this model by including an interior.

My goal with these renders was to use as few software as possible. Everything was created in Maya, including the car model, textures, and renders.

Software used:

Maya

Adobe Photoshop

I also made a "studio" version.

Environment made with Megascans assets

Here is my second project, which was made before the Koenigsegg One:1. It was my first car model made in Maya. I chose the 2016 Huracán because I wanted to create a sports car, and I thought it would be easier than other sports cars due to its many straight lines and great appearance.

Like the Koenigsegg One:1, the goal was to use as few software as possible. Everything was done in Maya, including modeling, texturing, and rendering.

Software used:

Maya

Adobe Photoshop

I also made a "studio" version with the Huracán

Here is an "outside" version that I made using a SkyDome light. I used image planes of the same place as the SkyDome and placed a plane on the ground with an aiShadowMatte.

Now I'm going to show my work-in-progress environment that was made at a real-world scale.

My goal was to create a playable environment in Unreal Engine. For this project, for this project sometimes I'll use images with text to explain instead of the text in The Rookies.

Software used:

Blender

Substance Painter

Substance Designer

Unreal Engine

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Media Encoder

Adobe Premiere Pro

Disclamer:

I used Ultra Dynamic Sky from the UE Marketplace for the SkyBox and weather.

Foliage and gravel textures were taken from Megascans.

Vehicules were taken from SketchFab.

Other than that, everything was created by me.

Here is the MoodBoard for this Project

Now I'm going to show you a video render and some image renders of the project. The image renders were made in Unreal Engine, and I used Media Encoder and Premiere Pro to compile them into a video and make some edits.

Here is some gameplay with three different moods.
