SIR. THONAIL

Hi there!

my two project made during the master at skyup academy

I hope you'll enjoy it !

The first step was to design my character, study the anatomy and possible choices of costumes and shapes. I loved every step of the making of this work.

let's start sculpting!

During the blocking phase of my sculpture, I studied the volumes and anatomy of my character.

the most important and fun phase was also studying the shape of the wig and how it tied in with the shape of the character. I often checked the character's siluetthe to check the legibility of my little friend.
Another very important step is to choose the gesture of my little friend. I thought : "what personality does he have?", " is he vain?", "what do I want to convey?". I asked myself a lot of questions and did some testing .

IT COULD WORK!

I would like to share with you more evidence of finding lights for the final render . I thought about my favorite movie " the goonies" , my character is a pirate and thief so it seemed fitting.

But it didn't convince me and I chose another option ...

but you : "You had me at "hello".

This was the right choice. The dark red conveys nobility and elegance and evokes an ancient world. I love Norse mythology and fantasy and being able to do it in 3D was unique.

et voilà!

SIR. THONAIL, a spriggan and eccentric thief, who loves beautiful women, elegant clothes and he likes to wear women's wigs.

thank you for your time and hope you enjoyed it .

                                                                                            THE  FISHERMAN'S HOUSE

inspired by the wonderful works of Ann Maselli

These are the renders of my second project at Skyup Academy during the photorealism module.

FIRST STEP

the most important part is bloking. this part is very important to find harmony between proportions with simple shapes.

I also sketched the characters using zbrush for more organic modeling , again using very simple shapes .

But now the funniest part!

texturing, I used Substance painter and Photoshop for some details, I wanted to experiment with both uses. i love to paint objects manually.

here I experimented with using photoshop out of curiosity by extrapolating uv from maya

simple lighting studies

 Thank you for your time!

I had a lot of fun during all the processes , I loved being able to mix techniques and experiment with different approaches to sculpture. I start out as a 2D artist but my goal is to also match the love I have for 3D, combining the two worlds to be able to build my own. thank you for your attention and quoting my favorite movie : “ never say die”
