PROLINE

Why design a pen?

Lines are considered one of the most basic elements in drawing. A smooth and controlled line allows for accurate renderings of shapes and forms and conveys a sense of calmness, elegance, and luxury.

Drawing straight lines is the basic element in art, but it is also something that may take years of practice. Even then, smooth lines are hard to perfect. This is what everyone struggles with.

This had me wondering. What if there was a pen that would help you draw smooth lines? Can we bring the smoothening pen tool of digital art into reality?

PROLINE works just like the smoothening pen tool in digital art.

While the stand keeps the main body parallel to the drawing surface, the mechanism allows the pen tip to follow the drawing path in a delayed and smoothened manner. This has an effect as if the pen takes the average of your squiggly lines and turn them into a professionally controlled and smooth line.

The reason this is different from other pens out there that already claim to draw a straight line is because PROLINE draws smooth lines for organic or curved lines.

HOME CONNECT.

"What if you could talk and see the person you call as if you were in the same space?"

This was the question that sparked this idea. How would video calling look like taken to the next level?
I introduce you, to "Home Connect" as a possible solution.

Even when looking at the same object, your perspective of what you see always changes as your head moves around the room. To capture an accurate perspective, you must move the camera around accordingly. This is essentially what I did with Home Connect.

A camera facing you calculates where you are in your room. That calculation is used to move the other person's camera using the 2 stepper motors. The image captured from the camera now has an accurate perspective of what you would see if you were in the same space. That image is then projected onto your wall to simulate being in the same space as the person you are talking to.

POWER STATION

The Problem

Everyone knows about the frustration of running out of power ports. Crouching down under the table just to find out you do not have enough power ports is a daily frustration.

What if there was a solution that makes connecting your power cables easier, safer, and accessible? Could I design a product that ensures you never run out of power ports?

The Solution

The multi-plug outlet has been designed as a functional tabletop accessory, addressing the common issue of insufficient power ports.

The perforation arrangement, coupled with the presence of foam, guarantees consistent contact between the prongs of your plug and both the positive and negative terminals. Furthermore, the silicone cover consistently ensures a secure and snug fit.

FABRIC WHEEL

The Problem

Wheel truing on bikes is crucial for optimal performance and safety. A properly trued wheel ensures even spoke tension, reducing stress on components and enhancing stability. However, it can be challenging due to the need for precise adjustments, as minor deviations impact balance, braking, and overall ride quality.

The Solution

What if a pair of wheels could be made to be trued quickly and easily using readily available tools, and easy and affordable to replace parts, while maintaining high performance and durability?

My take on this was to reduce the number of parts that make up the wheel. I replaced all of the spokes with just 2 pieces of Kevlar fabric. I also designed the hub of the wheel to be responsible for tightening the wheel tension. The Kevlar spokes were designed to be easily replaceable and installed easily at home.
