When Will Our Memory Run Out?

An Interactive Installation - May 2024

Over the past years, a lot of new technology has been introduced, making it hard not to enter a state of future shock—a constant feeling of overwhelm and exhaustion. Constantly being bombarded with more information has been proven to affect our memory and cognition, or in other words ... When will our memory run out?

I began by researching the visual style I wanted to achieve in order to depict the deterioration of memory. After that, I set up a simple installation to experiment with lighting, camera placement, and the combination of different components. Next, I worked on creating the desired effect by using a series of noise maps and distortions. Finally, I added audio that becomes distorted whenever the installation detects motion.

The installation is designed to be showcased in a public space, allowing users to interact with it passively. As people walk by, they can observe the distorted echoes left behind by the previous passersby.

Future Shock

Title Sequence - May 2024

A title sequence for the book "Future Shock" by Alvin Toffler. Written in 1970, Alvin Toffler discusses the rapid changes he anticipated for the future based on his experiences in the years leading up to the book's publication. To create the title sequence, I searched for articles, footage, and photographs from significant events of the last 100 years by looking through sites like archive.org or the New York Times time machine.

In The Dark

Promotion - May / Jul 2023

Drawing inspiration from the first episode of 'In The Dark,' this animated project explores the mishandling of the investigation of Jacob Wetterling's disappearance, portraying the urgency and chilling statistics surrounding abducted children.

This promotional animation is for the first episode of 'In The Dark: The Crime (S1|E1)'. The video uses a central circle as a symbol to represent the time and space involved in the investigation. This visual motif helps to illustrate the extensive duration and expansive scope of the search for Jacob Wetterling. The circle is a pivotal visual cue that balances digital elements with tactile textures and encapsulates the prolonged duration and spatial dimensions inherent in the story. This animation is aimed to be an effective promo that invites engagement with the podcast, generating interest in this compelling yet unresolved case.

I am a Party - Fred Again...

Lyrical Video - Apr 2024

My intention was to show the contrast portrayed in the song, highlighting the difference between how we feel we should act/feel and how we want to act/feel. To show the contrast, I used a combination of tactile techniques and a clean serif font. By transitioning from a clean serif to a more tactile one, I wanted to show how this line between how we feel and should feel can often be blurry.

However, I am saddened to have finished my M.A. in Motion Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I look forward to the new adventure that awaits me. Thank you for taking the time to look at my projects!
