URBAN ARCHITECTURE

Together with the visualization company Millerhare Visualization Studio, we were given a walkthrough of a real project they had worked on, which gave us an insight into the challenges and opportunities we would encounter in the industry. We were provided with informational PDFs and rough models of the buildings, and the rest was up to us to explore and design. Our task was to immerse ourselves in specific areas of Kings Cross in London. Known for its well-designed public spaces, heritage buildings and world-renowned architecture, Kings Cross is considered one of the most outstanding urban transformations in the world.

THE VILLA

During this project we have worked with drawings from Alingsås huspaket as a basis. The task was to create appealing and precise images based on the chosen drawings and then place them somewhere in Scandinavia. We had some artistic freedom when it came to choosing light and materials, which gave us the opportunity to create unique images for our portfolios. Even making a detail image.

The environment around the house consists of a pine forest and surrounding mountains. A terrace that leads out as a path. From the house you have a view of the lake.

THE HOTEL

This project was about learning to work together in a team. No matter what industry you work in as a visualizer, being able to work together is crucial. Recognizing the collective strengths of the team, sharing resources and following a common structure is key to success. We were also challenged to explore both nearby and distant parts of the world in a sector where it is important to convey strong concepts. That's why we were each commissioned to create an image of different parts of a hotel in French Polynesia. The goal was to harmonize the materials, feel and props between our images. My task was to create an image of the reception.

After some cultural research we created a moodboard - inspired by wood, thatched roof, lava stone floor and vegetation. We have also used the local pattern they call Tifaifai.

This is how scetching looks like in 3d.

THE CHAIR

This task was to find an existing chair and model it from scratch. I chose to create the LM92T | Metropolitan Chair designed by Larsen & Bender Madsen. The back and armrest are made in a single piece of walnut veneer and a leather seat. This was a very educational and fun project!

THE RENOVATION

The brief of this school project was to find a building in need of a renovation and show the potential of the house using our own creativity. The goal was to use materials and furnishings that suit the selected target group. My target audience was "A family with a small child looking to adopt a renovation project in the middle of the city." At the same time, preserve existing elements such as windows. Research was key.

THE ABSTRACT PAINTING

The brief of this school project was to find a work of art and analyze it. Then create a simple room inspired by the painting. I chose "Snow Storm Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps" by William Turner.

MATTE PAINTING

From sketch to image. We started the process by generating different draft buildings for our composition using AI-Midjourney. The building generated by AI was used as our basis and we completed the project by finding and matching different photographs.

Project length: 1 weeks I Software used: Photoshop, Midjourney
