Hi everyone, I'm pleased to present my second year project of the Side Academy: The Addams family house. Designed and created by me, with the advice and supervision of my tutors, this work lasted six months which however led to the realization of this project

What you saw is my big environment project done on Maya; with the aim of being my second year thesis this work was created in 5 months at Side Academy. Being my first job I learned many things: I learned to work on new programs and I refined my working method, but above all I learned from my mistakes.

I had the idea of ​​creating the Addams Family House in my head for a while, so when the opportunity presented itself I jumped at the chance to create something of my own.

I have always been fascinated by the world of horror and the macabre and for this reason I wanted to recreate something that represented me, something of mine, and I am very honored to present a project of my own.

This is the video presentation of my project where you can see the shot of the house seen up close in maya. The aim, in addition to creating the house, was to create a scary environment with props and plays of light.

This is my final render: the house was created entirely on Maya, textured on Substance and finally composited and finished on Nuke.

Reference

Before starting to work on the project I did some brainstorming to understand exactly what I wanted to create, after which I started looking for images that could help me in creating the house. I searched for images from various sites such as pinterest, images that could inspire me in the setting and clips from the original film to recreate the house exactly

Enviroment breakdowns

Once I had clear ideas I started to do an initial bloking of the house on Maya and then later went on to refine the details

After finishing building the house and providing the materials for each component of the house, I started texturizing on Substance.

The next step after the textures was the most fun one, that is, the creation of the environment. Once identified on Bridge, I positioned the gate, the fence and the trees on the scene, always relying on the reference that I wanted to recreate.

I then recreated the base on which the house rests and then I created the grass with Mash always on Maya.

To complete the details I added the lights both inside the house to give the idea of ​​a not abandoned building, and finally on the lamps of the gate.

Finally, the last thing I had left to do was compose the image and shot for my presentation on Nuke.
