Round of applause for our sponsors

Hi, we are Thibaut and Margaux, two friends who love working together to create little worlds using our brains and skills.

We are really happy to present GUARDIAN, straight out of our imaginations. We hope you will like the atmosphere and the personality of our plan!

Enjoy!

Thibaut was in charge of:  Layout / Lighting / Compositing / Animation /  Chara Concept / Set Dressing / Organic Modeling / Rocks Modeling

Margaux was in charge of: Concepts / Set Dressing / Assets Modeling / Huts Modeling

HUTS

-Concept-

Margaux: "We wanted to focus on one shot, so our challenge was to represent the entirety of a culture in one environment.

Horizon zero dawn was our greatest inspiration in terms of style and universe.

The environment sketch was the easiest idea to create because we were sure of our choices. For the houses, I decided to model the basic shapes directly and then redraw on top of them."

-Modeling-

Margaux: "Initially, my biggest fears were wooden planks and logs. I wanted them to be as optimized as possible and I think I've found the right balance thanks to the texturing. A simple cylinder, deformed a little, is more than enough for the use I was going to make of it."

DRAGON

Thibaut; "For the dragon, I began by sketching a concept, which helped me visualize the basic shapes I needed to create. Instead of sculpting from a single primitive, this approach gave me a solid foundation for volume and form.

Later on, I was able to concentrate on advancing step by step, gradually adding details. This method allowed me to refine the model gradually, reserving the addition of finer details for later stages."

ENVIRONMENT

Thibaut ; "Later on, I was able to concentrate on advancing step by step, gradually adding details. This method allowed me to refine the model gradually, reserving the addition of finer details for later stages."

Margaux; "For the plants, we wanted to make them ourselves but there wasn't enough time , so i chose a few varieties from the Bridge library. The scatter couldn't work on .ASS, so i had to create clusters of foliage and place them by hand in the scene. "

LAYOUT

Thibaut; "I began by laying out the scene with basic shapes and then placed placeholder assets as references. This approach allowed me to start working on the animation and lighting early on, even though the final assets were not yet complete, giving me  flexibility to make adjustments.

Overall, we aimed for the shot to evoke a feeling of majesty, dividing it into two parts: a close-up and a wide shot. This is why I created this camera angle. We already knew we wanted a point-of-view sweep over the cliffs to enhance the sense of discovery."
