Spinner - Getting started in the 3D world

Below you will find my initiation to this wonderful world. The first project reflects my beginnings before I decided to dedicate myself to 3D modeling. The following projects are the learning process of this year at FX Animation school.

                       Blade Runner 2049 - Spinner 

Spinner from Blade Runner 2049 - First project I made a year ago to get started in the 3D world. For 6 months I was learning how to model with 3Ds max at Cipsa Barcelona school. In this process I learned how to use 3Ds Max and a little bit of Substance Painter my self.

To begin with, I looked for as many references as possible, which was very difficult because of the little material available on the internet, but I got enough references to try to get as close as I could to the real thing.

First steps

It took me five months to model all the pieces since I had to work in the mornings and dedicate the afternoons to 3D, but in the end I was very happy with the result. It was time to start with Substance Painter.

The last renders I did are the result of a total of 7 months working as many hours as I could on the project. Due to personal issues I couldn't finish the car and it was left in the last steps. These are the final renders I was able to do.

Now after the experience I have gained this year at FX Animation school, I realize how many things I could improve but I am very happy with this project because it opened my heart to a world I didn't know before. Thanks to this project, I will be a 3D modeler one day.


When I finish the course I expect to have time to finish my Spinner and be able to animate it as it deserves.

                               Enviroment for fighting game

My second project presented is the project I have been working on this year. It is a fighting scenario modeled in 3Ds Max and textured in Substance.

My goal was to make a scenario a little more mystical. In the process we had to make a tileable texture, a trim sheets, foliage and a Hero prop in the center.

In my case I chose to make a magic book that flies in the center of the scenery.

In this process we have learned to use new programs such as ZBrush and Unreal Engine.

To finish the project we are in the process of creating a fighter for our scenario.
