I am excited to share my entry for the Rookie Awards 2024. These are my first two projects for Skyup Academy!
Introduction
Hi everyone! I'm excited to share my first projects from Skyup Academy. Before these, I had almost no experience with modeling or sculpting software, so I'm very proud of the final results.
Let me know if you like them too.
1. Imperial Mechaturkey
This is my first personal project from the 3D Photorealism module.
The concept of this miniature was created by Rokksville.
I began by researching references to accurately recreate the mechaturkey.
Next, I proceeded to the blockout modeling phase in Maya, defining the primary, secondary, and tertiary volumes. During this phase, I used both ZBrush and Maya.
After finishing the modeling, I created the UVs and then moved on to Substance Painter for texturing.
Finally, I returned to Maya to set up the lighting and render the final image.
2. The Bog-Hoggle
Instead this is my first sculpture project.
Check out the awesome concept art by Justin Gerard below.
To start, I sketched a rough version of the concept art to understand the basic shapes.
Then, I looked at different pictures to help me figure out how to pose and shape the creature in 3D.
After that, I used a program called Z-Brush to create the basic form of the creature. You can see the steps in the sculpting process.
Next, I switched over to Maya and Vray to learn about lighting and taking good pictures of my model.
I thought it would look cool to use green and red colors to make the creature's big face stand out.
