Here is my Character Modeling and Texturing 2024 Demo Reel.

This reel showcases my work from my final year at Artfx, including contributions to my graduation movie Heatwave and a personal project exploring a stylized artistic direction.

Heatwave - Theodore & Tété

I aimed to create a unique vampire, inspired by characters like The Dude from The Big Lebowski and Homer Simpson, differing from the usual tall and thin pop culture vampires. The challenge was to preserve the 2D design in the 3D sculpt. Theodore's sharp features, like his nose and ears, contrast with his round body. Using the 2D design as a foundation, I maintained his unique silhouette in 3D and created blendshapes by exaggerating his traits for easier rigging.

I painted the characters textures by hand in mari, the challenge was to add details without overdoing it to preserve the cartoonish style. I added veins and wrinkles to represent the character’s stage of life. The difficulty in doing this part was to find a good colour palette for the skin to match the environment and keep his vampiric aspect.

For the second character I wanted a sidekick for Theodore. The idea was to make a cute character, so I sculpted a round fish with big eyes. I made both the iris face different directions to emphasise the fish's lack of intelligence.

Heatwave - Texturing

The texturing of the movie needed to feel lived-in, reflecting the character's long life as a hermit and the old, dusty furniture. I added details by hand to enhance this effect.

Abigail

I created Abigail as a personal project to explore the stylized artistic direction of Spider-Verse. I developed a halftone shader in Maya to achieve a comic effect that dynamically responds to lighting.
