A collection of my best work during my first two years studying VFX at Howest DAE, consisting of Hard Surface modelling, some simulations and compositing.

Honda City Turbo R - High Poly Model

This was my second time doing a big high poly subdivision model. I had the Hot Wheels model car, the Honda City Turbo R, on my desk for a couple of years and always wanted to try and model it in 3D. I used Blender for the modelling and Arnold in Maya for the lighting, materials and rendering.

For now, this is a studio render with showroom materials without any livery or decals, but in the future, I want to pick this model back up and place it in a rural Japanese environment in for example Unreal Engine with additional details. The trickiest part of this model for me was the Indentation on the underside of the door and the vents behind the front fender, but overall I think it turned out nice.

Arrarex Caravel - High Poly Model

As my first time modelling a high poly subdivision model, I chose this vintage Arrarex Caravel coffee maker. It challenged me to get the right shapes and proportions of the real life object while keeping the model optimized with nice edge loops and techniques.

I also tried my best to incorporate a real life product on sale today, the Nespresso Loop cup. Also, don't mind the fact that the coffee machine is not plugged in but pouring out coffee, small detail.

Simulation Compilation

Below, a collection of some food simulations made in Houdini, rendered in Blender using some provided assets and I also used models from Sketchfab and modelled some objects myself. For the robot video, I made the balloon (modelled in Blender), balloon soft body simulation in Houdini and AOV composited it using Maya and DaVinci Resolve. The robot animation was provided to us and was made by Mathijs Derynck.
