VFX Trinity
Compilation of VFX centric projects done in the compositing class at RIngling College of Art + Design.
Compositing For VFX
Three projects centered around VFX compositing utilizing, cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects, and Nuke.
Camping: 101
This first project was all about using live footage taken by oneself without prior knowledge of VFX camera work to learn how to take the footage, learn to track, composite, and color correct in about 2 weeks.
The main animation was created in After Effects. I wanted to do something silly and a little spooky for fun, I had been interested in the cute and simple graphic style when I was creating this animation.
Quick breakdown of a couple of major layer that went into creating the final video.
Pocket Planetarium
This project focused on the more complex side of VFX. In order to make something lift from our digital screen, with the footage the was self caught and make it look like it belongs in the scene, we learned about multi layered compositing, utilizing cryptomatting in particular for mine.
A break down of the compositing. I had to learn how to take shadows from 3D in order to layer them into the final footage and create contact shadows.
Zen Garden
This project only had 2 weeks for its completion. The footage was given by our professor Christian Huthmacher, this project focused on implementing a 3D object into reality.
Not much to this breakdown other then some nice color correction, can't beat simplicity.
A closer look at the Zen Garden, using a Quixel succulent, and found textures. The rocks are spheres with noise, and all the tool and box are my own models.
