SOME REAL COOL GUYS - 3D CHARACTERS BY VIVIEN SIEMERS

Hey everyone! I'm Vivien Siemers and this is my last-minute entree of some of my stylized characters I made last year! I tent to swing alot between 2D and 3D art, but this year I thought to give my 3D guys a shot! ENJOY

STEGO SOLDIER


Hey Hey! The first character here is this big Stego Soldier guy based on Nicola Saviori’s awesome concept, make sure to check out his work!

To keep things compact, I'm not gonna bore you with all the process details here. But if you are interested about the full process, check out the article I wrote about the Stego Soldier HERE

All of the characters in my collection use the same workflow: blockout and highpoly in ZBrush, retopo and unwraping in Maya, texturing in Substance Painter and realtime rendering in UE5. 

The goal for each asset is to have some nice optimized characters that could be used in games.

For the sculpt I focused mostly on clean shapes, thick bevels and a strong sillhouette. Below you can find some progress images!

For the texture, I split the model into 3 UV Sets: the body, cloth and the gun. I used the classic PBR workflow with some hand-painted details

THE HUNTRESS

A little less stylized, but just as cool and fun to work on! This badass lady here is based on the concept of Jianfeng Xing!

What was originally planned to be only a character bust, turned into a full body human character with additional assets. I simply wanted to push myself to create a full human character.

Ok, I lied

This is not a character but a hand-painted axe from a while ago which I think is still pretty sweet! So I though why not show it again. This one is from my own concepts

Instead of PBR, the whole asset only uses a base color map and a small emmissiv map
