PROJECT CELESTIAL

A multi-dimensional, third-person, Sci-Fi action shooter, developed as part of a University Final Major Project.

In a collapsing galaxy of overthrown civilizations, the cessation of life has begun to resonate. Cybernetic sentinels, woven from artificial intelligence, now surge in a programmed effort to expand their hive mind to conquer celestial expansion.
Embracing the remnants of hope, the remaining bastions of humanity have used their own technology to venture beyond the known, through cosmic veils, into other dimensions in the struggle to maintain meaning of existence.

This experienced was Developed by Benjamin Shapley as part of his final Major Project at University (Games Technology BSc). This game showcases programming skills, level development and visual effects for player immersion (UI, Lighting and VFX).

The project was developed on Unity (2022) and spans between two academic modules:

FGTE6001 - Pre-Production unit that is representative of real industry production phases

FGTE6003 - Main development unit that allows for pure development, bug fixing and player testing before submission

For this project I wanted to draw into a new area of Sci-Fi, localized dimensionsThere are 3 different dimensions that each have a positive and negative impact on the gameplay. For example, the Red Dimension damages any enemies within the radius whilst also damaging yourself over time.

Thus, players must make real-time decisions within combat to ensure that they always have the advantage over the enemy without dragging themselves down with them.

Comprehensive User Interface design within video games makes the experience feel a lot more alive, immersing the player deeper into the world and narrative.

Due to this, I dedicated a lot of work into UX/UI Design, drawing inspiration from large titles to further the quality of the experience.

All UI elements are original and designed in Figma & Photoshop.
