Some of my favorite 3D modeling and texturing work in 2024. I wanted to focus on stylized projects and improve my shape language and textures when it comes to content for animation.

Modern Centaur

This centaur character is based on a concept by Tony Sart. I wanted to explore animal anatomy with this project and also utilize Xgen and anisotropic shaders in Arnold. My goal was to make the Xgen and the maps used on the body merge cohesively while texturing the character.

I used two main alpha maps to create the fur. The alphas were made by me using horse hair samples I found on Adobe stock.

Base color, roughness and normal map. In addition to these maps, I also used an anisotropic roughness, sheen and anisotropic angle maps.

Antique Store Environment

This environment was based on the concept art by JiYoung Choi. I wanted to explore stylized modeling and lighting with this piece and stay true to the hand-drawn nature of the original concept art.

Process of blocking and planning the environment layout. I focussed on staying true to the original concept while also making sure that everything made sense in 3D. 

I modeled the environment in sections and referenced the smaller groups into a master environment file. Some of the individual sections are shown below.
