Round of applause for our sponsors

Hello everyone,

I am Gisela LDB, a student of Motion Graphics at FX Barcelona Film School. I was born in Argentina but have been living in Barcelona for a long time. I am new to the world of 3D, and I have been completely captivated by the endless possibilities it offers to bring many scenarios from my imagination to life.

Since I was young, I have been drawing and dancing; art has always pulsed through my veins. However, due to family expectations and the reality of the job market in my country at the time I had to choose a career, art was not an option. With great sorrow, I chose one of the few options my parents offered, and with the promise that someday I would pursue my dream career in art, I embarked on a different path.

I completed a degree in Dentistry, but in my spare time, I painted and studied oriental dances. I worked as a dentist and orthodontist for seven years and opened an American tribal dance school. Then, with much effort, I decided to change my life. Here I am, at 38, finally making that promise to myself come true.

For me, this new professional journey feels like finally coming home, even though I still have much to learn. Here is my first reel...

REEL 2024

Softwares: Cinema 4D, Redshift, After Effects, Premiere.

Having explored different professional fields, I understand that versatility is crucial, and the more tools and knowledge we have at our disposal, the better creators we become. This is why I have sought to experiment with various colors and themes throughout the course of my master’s program. While I feel more comfortable in some areas than others, I believe that the key is our ability to constantly transform in order to evolve.

LUCIA

This is one of my latest projects. My intention was to bring a book to the screen and transform it into a 3D opening. The book is a crime novel about a murderer who, in each heinous act, leaves a signature alluding to Ovid's Metamorphoses, always leaving a red and a green cloth and pictorial poses. The protagonist, Lucía, is a police officer characterized by tattoos all over her body, which I represented with silver ornaments on statues and textures that change in each scene.

For this I used: Cinema, Redshift, After Effects and premiere.

The most complex thing about this project was managing the optimal number of subdivisions so that quality is not lost in the statues, nor in the modeled and animated Cloth but at the same time the project has time for decent renderings, since having so many subdivisions, plus the The play of lights, and the certain darkness, required me to optimize the scenes as much as possible to complete the project in the time that the school gave me.

To do this I had to use cloners, alembics, and use any option that would make the project not become too heavy.

Furthermore, it was necessary to include Pyro and my story also contained Voronoi, so it was more than necessary to optimize as much as possible.

BURNING

This is the first part of a personal project inspired by Road House, the latest movie, and its end credits. This is my own version, called "Burning". For me, this movie represents how anger and a body can become a lethal weapon. This is just the tip of a very tangled ball of yarn for me.

For this video I used: Cinema, Redshift, After Effects and premiere.

SOCCER ROBOT

Sport and rigging!

BLOB

In this integration project, I have represented the intelligent fungi called Blob, which possess such sophisticated intelligence that it made me wonder what would happen if they were colossal...

I used: Cinema, Redshift, After Effects and premiere.

I sought to represent a type of biological organism, therefore I worked with materials with a subsurface, which demanded a large number of subdivisions, and the dynamics of soft bodies.

To shape these soft bodies, I first modeled different tori and spheres, which served as a collider and container surface for the objects inside, and then I hidden the collider, after making the alembic of my creatures.

And finally, here is one of my first projects. It needs a lot of refinement in terms of finishing and technique, and my computer wasn't my best friend during its creation. However, it is quite representative of my personal projection, both artistically and professionally. I aspire to work on creating grand visuals and improving my technique to aim for immersive and innovative projects. This project also represents an internal state overflowing with colors and shapes, eager to finally burst forth intensely. It is through professional training that all this drive is being organized and directed towards the creation of beauty.

LOOP

STILL FRAMES

This is my first entry into the Rookies, I know there is a lot left to learn, but it is a great first step, and I am excited to explore this whole new world for me. So thanks again!
