Project Shura - character concept art may 2024

Hi, Im Dennis from Malaysia. Graduated from Clazroom College and i wanted to share a personal project i was working on based of what I've been through a intensive training program in concept design conducted by my college. What Im about to show is a character design that I've started in this project of mine

It all started with a character design competition in my home country. It happened during my intensive training program. Sadly I did not finished it on time due to the training but it open an opportunity for me to create my own project based of this character.

Below was a sketch i started 

The theme was called resurgence so in my mind I imagined a burning japanese archer wielding a bow and shoot fire arrows. She was a broken character seeking for revenge, granted flame powers and given a bow and arrows by Ashura to help her path to vengeance. During her journey she hunted the demons who killed her family and torn down her whole village. Leading to find out it was all part of the shoguns plans.

this was a story i had in mind for her as i started putting relations in this character

the clan logo on her chest plate was inspired by tengu and kyudo mix 

After i had my ideas i started to visualize the character by using photobashing as it could make more different designs and save me more time on creating variations.

I do feel her dojo clothes was obstructing her movement so i decided to rip off a part on the lower clothing and add armor and shin guard on the left leg

As i got the variations down, i felt like I need to change up her pose. So created a new pose that shows she was ready for a fight

And that's all I have to show for this project. I do wanna thank my friends and lecturers for the critique along the way . There is a lot of ideas on other characters and enemies, scenes I've created but its still work in progress. I do wanna show it to all of you guys in the coming months. Critiques are appreciated ,you guys could comment it down below.
