Edelweiss - 2024 Game Project

As part of my major project for this year I am working to develop a visual pitch document/art bible for a possible point and click survival horror game set in the late 1910s. Edelweiss sees players locked in a manor home on the British moors, playing as a struggling writer it is your job to solve the puzzles and mysteries of this forgotten home alongside your fellow dinner party companions with the hope of escaping the house and inheriting its riches. However, it seems that the residents of this house are not willing to allow you to do so without a fight. 

Inspired by the idea of a horror version of Cluedo, I hope to build out this game's concept with escape-room style puzzle mechanics, narrative elements and a focus on characters and environments artistically. 

For this portfolio, I have begun designing my cast of characters, primarily the player character, as well as dipping into learning how to code in the Unity engine to bring my ideas for this game some functionality.

Dialogue System

First time coding in the Unity game engine and my first taste of prototyping how I want the dialogue in my game to flow/work. Taking inspiration from games like Ace Attorney and Danganronpa I wanted my dialogue to fell like a visual novel where you would click on objects in the scene and have the player character appear with comments about the object's place in the story.

As I am an artist and not a programmer however, I focused most of my efforts in this exercise into designing the UI and environment in Blender and Photoshop respectively.
