Concept Portfolio 2024: Jourdan McCready

Dracburn: The Founder, is the character design work of two leading characters in what is to be a prologue for a larger graphic novel yearly project. It is presenting Barbara and Vladimir Dracula, father and daughter who are the starring characters. Until the young daughter refuses to play nice with her father any longer. 

Barbara Dracula, the only daughter of Dracula and his killer. Rather than having her dressed in a Victorian English outfit, I instead moved to traditional Hungarian, Slavic and Nordic clothing. Allowing brighter colours to juxtapose the darker tone of the project.

Vladimir Dracula, Barbara’s father and a tyrannical ruler. Hardly ever in his regal wear but instead in a loose fitted white shirt and black pants, lacking in protection gave Barbara the chance to strike him down.

Last year I began a project under the title of Homeland and the four heroes were revealed but never the dastardly villains that live in Adare’s mind! So therefore this year I wish for everyone to see the Pùca the viscous horse made of bone and inky water. The Banshee whose cries drive the mind insane. And Balor, the demon king who turns all good into evil.
