Hey there! I’m Aurélie, Concept Art Student at CG Spectrum, based in Québec, Canada. Here is my best work from 2024. Hope you enjoy!

Round of applause for our sponsors

Dawn and Dusk are twin goddesses representing both Unity and Duality; As a lot of things in life - light and dark, night and day, love and hate, etc. - one cannot exist without the other. They are tasked to keep order between the Gods and the Human Realm from their temple in the sky.

The main inspiration for this project was ancient greek mythology and a bit of babylonian aesthetic. In the research phase, I experimented with generative AI to get a quick sense of mood to keep throughout my work. I’ve been told by industry veterans in my job search to learn to use these new tools and I thought this project could be a great opportunity to try it out.

Promo Artwork

I started learning Blender to push my concepts and illustration skills further, especially in perspective and lighting. This was my first time modeling a 3D asset to use in an illustration, and I’m really proud of the result. To help with the placement of objects, I built a quick plan using basic shapes and colours in Illustrator, then imported the images in Blender as reference.

I spent a lot of time in 2024 working some more on Project:Beyond, my personal IP presented to the Rookies 2023 contest. With the completion of my Concept Art Foundations course, I wanted to see how much further I could push my work, and it definitely paid off. This time around, I decided to really embrace the Xenoblade Chronicles series inspiration for the project and work towards that art style, with a personal flair.

You can see just how much the project improved by comparing with my Rookies 2023 submission.

Special thanks

I want to express my gratitude to the amazing community over at CG Spectrum. They provided invaluable feedback and support throughout my creative journey. Honorable mentions to mentor Brandon Reimchen for his guidance in this year’s entry, and to Will Evarts for his experience during the 3D part of my project. I can’t wait to start the Advanced Concept Art course next July!
