Photons In Time - Kinetic Type

Photons in Time is a SCAD dynamic typography piece I created to the soundtrack of a Neil deGrasse Tyson talk which delves into the subject of photons and the passage of time at light speed.

Inspired by the timeless charm of 1960s textbooks, and their use of the timeless Helvetica font and abstract geometric patterns, I aimed to evoke the nostalgic essence of well-worn educational materials.

The intentional distressing and tactile elements incorporated into the design reflects the aged textbooks, inviting viewers to embark on a journey through both science and design history.

For All Mankind Title Sequence

For this SCAD Network Branding project, I took on the challenge of rebranding and creating a title sequence for Apple TV+'s 'For All Mankind.'

Inspired by the show's alternate history of a Russian space race victory, my concept blends retro futurism with a forward-looking perspective. The title sequence traces the historical trajectory of space exploration and injects a sense of wonder into a future yet to unfold.

Animated Stand Up

For this personal project, I turned stand up comedy bits into short, punchy visual essays.

Keep the Duration under 60 seconds.

Design the video to be vertical and horizontal at the same time.

Produce the entire thing from start to finish in under 7 days.

I wanted to explore the specific challenges of designing for both formats at the same time, so the same video could be used in various social formats, and produce it quickly.

I also wanted to showcase up and coming stand up comedians, and give a compelling visual dimension to the audio material without overshadowing the humor.

Ultimately this was a very rewarding process, and I’m excited to keep making stand up animations, both to showcase some of my favorite artists, and explore new motion graphics techniques.
