A group project, featuring the paralympic vehicle of Marc Bogaerts, created as part of the 5th semester at Howest - Digital Arts and Entertainment, Belgium. The artists involved were Mariia Ogneva, Thibo Meesters, Luca Morré and Marcello Acevedo.
General
The short was produced as part of the Human Powered Vehicle project by Marc Bogaerts. As students of Howest - Digital Arts and Entertainment, we attempted the challenge of creating a dynamic spectacle featuring the unique vehicle design from the company. Modelled and animated in Autodesk Maya, with the renders ultimately made in Unreal Engine 4, the final film is a compilation of our teamwork during our final year. We hope you enjoy!
The Making-Of Triptych
A 1-minute short on the creation of the project. From disassembling a bicycle for motion capture, to iterations of glowing people and the vivid environments, we show it all here.
Beauty Renders
The Triptych model was created and animated in Autodesk Maya, using a design from Marc Bogaerts of Bogaerts Productions. Once done, the environment and final renders were realized using Unreal Engine, before compositing and color grading in DaVinci Resolve.
The Preproduction
As with every project, Triptych went through multiple iterations, initially involving live-action footage and complex environments, until eventually evolving into the motion picture you see before you.
