Natural Aceh: Kiboy Rebranding Project

Natural Aceh is a philanthropic organisation in Indonesia that was established in February 2003 to promote environmental conservation, reduce impact of natural disasters, and provide socio-economic assistance to underprivileged communities. In 2018, with funding from AirAsia Foundation, they established Kiboy.

Kiboy is a social enterprise initiated to help disaster-struck women in Alue Naga, Aceh. The women villagers harvest oysters using artificial oyster farming and transform them into healthy oyster-based foods and snacks. This empowers the women by providing sustainable income opportunities. Despite their impactful work, Kiboy was unable to distinguish themselves because they lacked an effective visual identity and failed to communicate their unique brand story.

IDEA
Empowering women is Kiboy's purpose, and this benefits their children as well. By nourishing the futures of the community, it allows them to rebuild a better life. The brand identity aims to highlight women as the foundation of Kiboy. The logo features a woman formed from the anatomy of an oyster, and is developed into a brand mnemonic. The design approach is organic and reflects a beach theme, relating back to the product’s origin.

Brand Mnemonic
These mnemonic elements can also be combined to recreate the Alue Naga landscape itself. This creates a cohesive visual identity that reinforces brand recognition and strengthens the connection to the empowering story behind Kiboy.

Kiboy Kitchen is a restaurant under Kiboy that offers delicious oyster-based foods.

Poster
The visuals communicate the brand's three key narratives: the inspiring story of the women behind Kiboy, the delicious and nutritious food offerings, and the sustainable source of their oysters.

Packaging 
The packaging design features inspiring testimonials from the women villagers to showcase how Kiboy is able to empower and uplift their community.
