Above the Clouds follows the journey of an owlet who yearns to fly above the clouds. Despite his shortcomings, he finds that all he needed was an unexpected glide down the mountainside. Senior capstone film made at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
Above the Clouds
Percy is a young barn owl with a deformed wing that makes flying difficult for him. He often watches other birds soar above the canopy, wondering when it will be his turn. Despite his determination, his failed attempts have started to wear down his spirit.
Shot Breakdown
Character animation and layout was completed in Maya before eventually transitioning to Houdini Redshift for CFX, environment FX, texturing, and lighting. Various systems ranging from a dynamic fog tool, generated grass, canopies, and individual grass cards were utilized for maximum appeal and stylization. Every shot's composition was carefully considered.
