Marin Le Tourneau - Concept Art 2024
Big recap' of my second concept art year at Bellecour Ecole with some of my favorite projects as well as some other illustrations.
2023/2024 School year recap'
I unfortunately didn't have the time to finish my personal project for this year Rookie's Award but still wanted to celebrate the end of the year by doing a recap of it, showing some of the works I had the most fun with :)
Howl's Inspired Flying Castle
I can only start this recap' with one image that I had the amazing opportunity to have featured in ImagineFx magazine ! I wanted to thank the Rookies again for this (and thanks for posting it on your Instagram I had never had this much like notifications lol)
Credits to Ghibli studio and their movie 'Howl's Flying Castle' (the best one fight me) on which I based the graphics of this image.
Disney Art Challenge 2024 !
This illustration was my entry for the Disney Art Challenge, the theme was 'l'Adolescence que d'émotions' (roughly translating as 'So many emotions in adolescence!' ) and having had a very rough time in my teenage years, I wanted to do something unexpected and depict the greatness that I still found there.
DuckTales x Ori and the Will of the Wisps
A very fun exercise this year was about recreating a popular franchise in another style. We tried to emulate mainly the style of Mikhail Rakhmatulin (https://www.artstation.com/rahmatozz).
I partnered with Ingrid Caussé ( https://www.artstation.com/yumial) and we helped each other create the character designs and images.
Here is the image that I mainly did.
Gwiden's Inn
This recap wouldn't be complete without at least one environment design project. Here we had to create a medieval Inn with a looot of specifications and little time.
Character Design
And finally some miscellaneous character design of this year.
This exercise was about emulating the style of the Apex Legends game, I wanted to pour some of my brazilian culture in it.
This design was inspired by a song, it's really interesting to try and create something from music, I really enjoyed it and surprisingly enough, despite having listened to the song on repeat during almost the whole process, I still like it.
I wanted to showcase these two characters that I had a lot of fun doing based on the style of Satoshi Matsuura (https://www.artstation.com/hiziripro)
We had a 3 day workshop on Zbrush at the end of the year to learn the software and create an anthropomorphic character with it. I had a very good time and it was great to be able to do only this project for a few days to be able to really focus on it.
This is a depiction of how I felt inside when I understood that I couldn't pursue my personal project due to a big lack of time at the end of this year.
Thank you !
Even though we did much more 'style adaptation' than anything else this year, I still liked what I could come up with and I can't wait for next year's projects.
Thank you for scrolling this far, I hope you enjoyed this little peak at my 2nd year in concept art at Bellecour Ecole :)
