Bambam's Dead Alter Ego

This is me but dead and just arrive in hell!

In this project I caricaturized myself as a newly dead skeleton character. I took my love for quirky Tim Burton style and Beetlejuice and created this character. I am responsible for all aspects including designing, modeling, retopo, texturing, animating, lighting and compositing.

Turnaround!

A quick look at the character 360. I originally planned her to play the electric guitar Gibson SG like me in real life so I rendered this turnaround to test out how it would look.

Emote Test!

This a emote test animation to test the ability of the rig. My goal is to push the emotions and expressions with the face rig and test the popping head mechanic with the body rig. In the end, this animation is definitely challenging and more of a stunt test than an emotion test. However it definitely push my animation ability and I had a lot of fun experimenting.

The Final lipsync  - Bambam! Bambam! Bambam!

This animation is my final project for junior year at Ringling College. Dead Bambam just died and get thrown into hell's waiting room. Discovering afterlife, she becomes so excited over her new cool skeleton self that she accidentally thrown her head back up to the living world aka a computer lab at my college. This animation have many challenges other the lip sync and body mechanic animation. The head popping mechanic involves multiple constraints I created using ZV Parent Master. When I want to take off the head, I constraint the head ctl to a nurbcurve and use that as the main ctl for translate only and rotate using the original head ctl. However whenever I need to hold the head with the hands, I need to constrain the head ctl to the hand ctls as well. I never use as many constraints before but I am happy with how it turn out! For the mirror, it was very challenging to animate with both views at the same time. Making sure everything line up and look appealing in both side was quite complicated. Then rendering and composting was done in nuke with multiple layers to create the mirror effect.

Shiba the Doge

Meet Shiba the Doge! A chubby little karate kicking shiba inu dog training his hardest to become a great fighter. This is my first time using Xgen and rigging using Advanced skeleton face rig as well. Experimenting with a short round stubby character was definitely out of my comfort zone but I am happy with how cute and adorable he turned out!

A turnaround showing the modeling, texturing and xgen.

Shiba the Doge final animation!

Shiba is practicing his punch but it backfires and now he is stucked in his dojo's wall. He trying his hardest to get out. I get inspired but how squishy shiba inu dogs are in real life. They sometimes stick their heads into holes in walls or sometime when their owner pull on their leash it tucked and squish up their cheeks. Animating action and fighting with a stubby character was a challenge.  Animating the camera with multiple action style to continue seamless was challenging but it was a lot fun to include some shots that are anime inspired. The white and blonde fur xgen is a bit noisy but I tried my best to make it not too distracting.

Rig Turnaround of Shiba.
