A clerk with big dreams spends the night shift fighting against the clutches of boredom... and evil?
Candy Cadet is a 2D animated student film (about two and a half minutes long) by the team Candy Corporation as a three semester (plus summer) project at DigiPen Institute of Technology, completed in Fall of 2023. We took inspiration from classic magical girl anime like Sailor Moon and late 90s-early 2000s American superhero children's shows like the Powerpuff Girls. We all wanted to create a fun, classic magical girl short, and then found our main character became more endearing the more pathetic she was, so we decided to fuse these elements.
The Candy Corporation:
Jasmine Stewart- Director, art director, character designer, background artist, color script artist
Alyssa Francisco- Producer/manager, lead character animator, tiedown artist, timing editor, color script artist
Laura Bernheimer- VFX animator, compositor, prop designer
Narun "Boom" Abhiskulshat- Storyboard artist, storyboard timer, cleanup artist
Prudence Miller- Colorist, lighting artist, environment block-in modeler, technique researcher
Victor Ramirez- Lead cleanup artist, color script artist
With additional help from Alex Raupp as composer and sound designer, Charles Merz and James Crumbo as rough character animators, and guidance from our professors over the three semesters, Pamela Mathues, Chris Mosio, Mark Henne, Richard Morgan, and Jazno Francoeur.
