Shannon C Sullivan - Going Through the Motions
A collection of some of my favorite motion graphics projects from my senior year at SCAD. These projects showcase a variety of different production techniques from frame-by-frame to projection mapping, and lots in between!

The Bar is in Hell
The Bar is in Hell was created as my senior capstone film for SCAD. This project was 20 weeks long, consisting of coming up with concepts, pre-production planning, asset illustration, and animation.
The Bar is in Hell is an animated short about angels and demons at a bar, serving as a metaphor for the disconnect between legality and morality.

Seasons: In Different Perspectives
This project is based on a set of frame-by-frame animations that have been added to and modified for exhibition in two very unique spaces.
Seasons: Dome Projection
The original concept for this piece was influenced by the circular shape of the planetarium and my strengths as an animator. With these considerations in mind, I was inspired by vintage animation devices like the Kinetoscope and Zoetrope.
With this style in mind, I chose to create animal walk cycles. And to keep the idea of separate animation discs, I decided to create different walk cycles for different seasons.
Seasons: BEEPLE STUDIOS
Soon after my dome projection, SCAD and BEEPLE partnered up to host a student showcase at BEEPLE STUDIOS. With this large and immersive space to work with, I decided to update and reformat Seasons.
Huluween Promos
A set of network IDs promoting Hulu for the Halloween season, featuring famous creatures and scores from the "Alien" franchise, available to stream on Hulu.
Research and Visual Development
Last of the American Girls - Music Video
For this project, I was tasked with creating a 45-second piece of 'visual poetry'. So, I decided to make a punk-rock animated collage!
The visual style is directly inspired by the disheveled styles of bands like the Sex Pistols and punk posters/flyers. With a focus on grungy visuals with Dadaesque chaos and ransom note lettering, I wanted to create a world and narrative with a distinct visual style without losing the value of the words themselves.
