Hello! My name is Kyle Switzer I'm a multidisciplinary 2D/3D animator interested in the intersection between brands and storytelling. Everything I do starts with design and ends in detail.

Ukiyo Rebrand

Ukiyo is a local Japanese restaurant in Savannah, Georgia, known for its commitment to fresh ingredients and a sleek, modern ambiance.

I don’t think we see enough collaboration between food and design. Just as the food is meticulously crafted and presented, the branding should reflect a similar essence of minimal, well-executed design.

All aspects of the project from concept, design and animation were done by myself with the assistance of Professor Brandon Sugiyama

Website

Iphone Menu

In the landscape of modern dining, the QR code menu, has become a communality. I wanted to figure out this design challenge: How does one elevate the experience of a phone menu while prioritizing legibility?

Poster Design

Digital menus demand a sharp focus on legibility, both in imagery and typography. When it comes to assets like posters and billboards, I focused on crafting an ambiance that exudes of sophistication and exclusivity.

Comotion 2024 Title Sequence "The Nature System"

CoMotion is the largest student-led motion design conference in the world. Motion Media Design students at the Savannah College of Art and Design participate in a two-day event to engage and learn from over 35 companies.

Every year, two students are awarded the opportunity to rebrand the event. They are in charge of recruiting and leading a team of 40, overseeing production on 100+ deliverables, including a 3-minute title sequence introducing the event.

On October 16th, alongside my good friend Muskaan Sethi, we were awarded the opportunity to brand CoMotion.

Design Deck

Between November 2023- January 2024 Myself, Muskaan Sethi, and Tiffany Tedy directed the design team to create the design board for the title sequence.

How do we ensure the audience feels they're not just observing life, but embarking on a journey to study it? We meticulously addressed scale, magnifying the microscopic, then confining the expanse of space into a frame.

Motion design has such a unique ability to show life through abstraction—can we do that? How might we depict atoms, their splitting and joining, in a way that feels fresh and new.

When we strip away the veneer of color what remains?

Logo Ideation

Designed by Muskaan Sethi, Kyle Switzer.

Muskaan and I knew we had to craft a logo that captures the essence of process—something so essential to an education in design—while remaining true to our organic design language.

Moving into animation, I aimed to not rush to the final look, but guide viewers through the process of creating the letter forms. We looked to Roman type anatomy as a starting point for the design, and that exploration continued as the primary direction for animation.

Wutang Title Sequence

A title sequence created for a Wu-Tang documentary “Return to the 36 Chambers.

3D, 2D, stop motion, designing with an x-acto knife, blasting 36 chambers on vinyl through the whole thing. I wanted to design something that felt like a Staten Island party. Rough on the edges. This one feels true to me, happy to be in a place creating work that feels authentic to who I am, creating work from inside.

Non-profit PSA

I wanted to do something abstract, something that embodies the feeling of home, something that feels light and airy, warm, the feeling when you’re in the right place. I wrote the script about these definitions of home, then found my friend Laura Ubaté to record.

3D Composite

Composition created in Cinema4D, textures mapped using Cineware and set matt in After Effects.

After Effects Expressions

With the help of Desmond Du I used an expressions to randomize the location of sprites in x,y,z. Then put a simple wiggle to make them float.
